WEATHER ADVISORY—there will be a 20% chance of rain on the ride tomorrow, so please take necessary precautions, and bring rain gear to the ride if you feel you may need it. The ride will go on rain or shine, but if the rains get too heavy we may cut it short for safety purposes.
Many thanks to everyone who joined the second folding bike ride last Sunday, August 31, 2008. We raised over $120 for World Bicycle Relief, and we also had our first non-folding bike rider!
The next ride will be on Sunday, December 14, 2008. For more details see ride and route info. This ride will showcase the uniqueness and mobility of folding bikes while raising money for a good cause. Proceeds will benefit World Bicycle Relief, an organization that donates bicycles to less fortunate countries. The goals of this ride are: 1) To promote folding bikes. Folders are a great way to get around, and the ride will showcase their full range by going multi-modal and incorporating public transportation along with cycling. 2) To see different models of folding bikes in action. There are many models of folding bikes, each with their own capabilities and drawbacks. This ride will be a chance to compare the many kinds of folders around. 3) To support a worthy cause. Folding bikes are the ultimate in mobility, and we are proud to support World Bicycle Relief, an organization that brings mobility to people who need it the most all around the world. 4) To have fun with our bikes! Folders are very fun to ride, and we want to share the fun with you all! Anyone who owns or is interested in folding bikes may join! You don’t have to own a folding bike to be a part of this ride. Regular bikes are very welcome! If you can’t join a ride because you don’t own a bike, but are interested in seeing folding bikes, you may come to the short meet and greet session right before the ride. |
